Following a series of alarming observations, and having identified some serious shortcomings in the watchmaking field, in 2005 the idea was had to start a foundation to preserve outstanding craftsmanship. After much reflection, it became apparent that a foundation was the right solution as it was the only organisation truly suited to the objectives we had set ourselves, and one that we had set our hearts on creating.

NAISSANCE D’UNE MONTRE (1)

Robert Greubel, Stephen Forsey and Philippe Dufour, came to an alarming conclusion: due to increasing industrialisation and the massive use of automation in the watchmaking world, an entire heritage of historical and traditional manual skills and craftsmanship was on the brink of extinction.

Workshop_Rond

DECORATION WORKSHOP

Time Æon Foundation will be organising a series of workshops dedicated to the decoration of movement pieces. They will be led by Michel Boulanger and, depending on the date, by Philippe Dufour. The participants – students at watchmaking schools, but also watchmakers wishing to learn the basics of certain historical techniques – will be able to train in the art of bridge decoration.
